Pet Emergency & Referral Center

Who We Are
Pet Emergency & Referral Center was built on a common dream shared by Dr. Steven Hanson and Dr. Sean Thomas. The doctors envisioned a multi-disciplinary emergency and specialty center with the scale, resources, and expertise to provide the highest level of veterinary care to pets in the West Palm Beach region.

"There are many opportunities to grow and learn at PERC. I’m currently enrolled and working toward my veterinary technology degree and my team is so incredibly supportive. Our team culture is very positive! We’re very driven, but we always find opportunities to have fun.
I believe in our mission; we always have the best interest of our patients, their families, and our staff. At PERC, no day is exactly the same, and there is always an opportunity to make someone's (human or animal) day better. My career at PERC has been the best job experience so far, I genuinely enjoy coming to work."

"What I like most about working at PERC is, that we are treated like family and are given the opportunity for growth. Our team has a common purpose, providing exceptional client and patient care. We strive to build trusting relationships with our clients and patients.
I get excited about coming to work in a field that I am passionate about. One that gives me the opportunity to make a difference in a client's and patient's life regardless of the position I work. Pet Emergency & Referral Center provides purpose and meaning in my career.
The team culture here is like working with family. We have so much compassion and support for each other. Working at PERC has ultimately been life-changing. I have been given the opportunity to work in a field that I am passionate about. I am grateful for the opportunities for growth within the company that I have been offered."

"Vet Med is a physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging field but PERC strives to maintain a balanced work environment. PERC employees work hard and are focused on providing excellent patient care, however, there is still room for a little joking and laughter to help diffuse the stress of the job. We are a family - people genuinely like each other and care for each other at PERC. Happiness among the staff trickles down into every aspect of how the hospital runs.
My #1 priority as a doctor is to provide exemplary care to my clients and patients. How I practice has never been “about the money” but is focused on what is right for my patient and its family. Working in a practice that adheres to this philosophy makes me feel supported and allows me to concentrate on the medical needs of patients and the financial & emotional needs of their families.
PERC has a team culture, unlike any other place I have ever worked. Management prioritizes employee growth and satisfaction and provides ample opportunities for employee feedback and employee growth."

"My favorite things about coming to work every day at PERC are simple, but they make all the difference: We work as a team; we have an amazing culture, and we share the feeling of a job well done when a case is successful.
We spend so much of our lives at work that I can’t imagine having a career that did not give me a sense of purpose and meaning. I believe that I am meant to help other living beings in some capacity in my life, and it is such a blessing that I am able to do that and be paid for it!
The culture at PERC is by far my favorite of any hospital I have worked at. We truly love each other like family. That means through the good times and the bad times, we still have each other’s backs. I always enjoy the team that I’m working with and know on my way to work that it will be a good day because I get to work with my friends. I am incredibly grateful for the culture here and so proud that we are encouraged to let our “freak flags” fly!"
