Darby Toth

Dr. Darby Toth earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She went on to complete a rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery, followed by a residency in Small Animal Surgery, both at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. During her residency, she also obtained a Master of Science in Veterinary Biomedical Science.

Dr. Toth’s passion for veterinary medicine began in childhood, inspired by the family pets she lovingly “treated” with makeshift bandages. Her early interest in surgery grew stronger during veterinary school, where a lecture from a board-certified surgeon cemented her dedication to the field. She has since developed a particular interest in minimally invasive soft tissue surgery, especially laparoscopy.

Throughout her training, Dr. Toth gained extensive hands-on experience, performing over 1,000 surgeries as a student through volunteer work with Operation Catnip at the University of Florida. Her academic achievements include receiving the Outstanding Resident Seminar award for her presentation on ventriculoperitoneal shunt complications.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Toth enjoys flying; she earned her pilot’s license during her residency and enjoys piloting Cessna 172s. She also loves spending time outdoors with her dog, Ember, and relaxing at home with her two cats, Koda and Gus.
